Resort Description

Affordable and newly-renovated boutique hotel, just 3 blocks from Waikiki Beach – Bright, airy, and affordable, this boutique hotel is set at the center of Hawaii's most-traveled city, mere minutes from nearly everything. Whether you're looking to spend everyday on the sand, explore the countryside, or roam the cityscape, the location is ideal. Recent updates have added an extra layer of comfort and a touch of retro-inspired style, while rates remain among the most affordable in Waikiki.

Accommodations: All rooms have private lanais (Hawaiian jargon for "balconies") with views of the surrounding city and/or the nearby Diamond Head, a dormant volcano and national landmark. Basic amenities include air-conditioning, 40" flat-screen TVs, phones, complimentary WiFi (available throughout the hotel), in-room safes, microwaves, mini-fridges, coffee makers, hair dryers, irons/ironing boards, and Aqua's signature brand of bath products. Rates and categories are determined by bed configurations (doubles, queens, and kings) and views. The 2-bedroom Penthouse Suite has a full kitchen. All rooms have been completely renovated, and given a modish update with green/blue color schemes that complement the hotel's art-deco inspired design. Travelers under that age of 17 stay for free when rooming with their parents.

Dining & Entertainment: A complementary continental breakfast is served each morning, and though the hotel lacks a restaurant and room service, neither is a necessity considering that there are a dozen dining options within a few minutes walk. Duke's Restaurant & Barefoot Bar is a must, named for Duke Kahanamoku, the founding father of surfing, with a menu of authentic Hawaiian cuisine and tropical drinks (try the Hula Pie for dessert). If you've got an exceptional appetite, head to Perry Smorgy, an all-you-can-eat buffet that has a great reputation with locals and travelers alike (there's a reason it's been in business since the 1970s). The Waikiki Beach Walk is home to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and Coconut Willy's a popular bar and nightspot.

Recreation: The hotel has an outdoor pool with a wraparound deck for sunbathing, as well as a fitness center, but the major draw here is the location. Spending a day or an afternoon on Waikiki Beach and browsing what's for sale along the Waikiki Beach Walk are musts when you're here. Besides the beach, Honolulu has great hiking opportunities like the Diamond Head crater, luaus and feasts celebrating Polynesian culture, horseback and ATV rides, day cruises, tours of filming locations, and historic attractions like Pearl Harbor.
