Elevated slightly higher than the surrounding Apulia flatlands the air is more cooling here. In fact we are about 6 kilometres from Locorotondo, a town-on-high that resembles Jerusalem. The glorious Adriatic is a mere 20 kilometres at Torre Canne and, closer to home, shops are to be found just 40 metres away. The property is just off a quiet secondary road. Ample parking. The front door is across a delightful terrace, great for al fresco meals especially in the evening when guests can witness the sun going down over orchards and olive groves.

Crowned rather regally with three conical roofs, and facing a large oak tree from which it takes its name, this ’trullo’ is a delight. Completely restored and renovated (2004) the fixtures, furnishings and tiling are of good quality and all display lovely little touches. The proud owners live next door in a separate villa and, between the two properties, there is a stone pizza oven and barbecue area (for sole use of the guests). A 10m x 5m swimming pool has been constructed so close to the front door that it’s only around 20 paces for a refreshing dip to be yours for the taking!
